How to Name Your Pontoon Boat

Naming pontoon boats is not that hard and you should not stress yourself over it. I already gave you some boat names to start with above. You can pick a boat name from them and mix your creativity with it or you can come up with something fun on your own. There are some great examples up there, but you may be able to come up with something similar that’s even better. Nothing says you have to use one of the names above or anything even close to it.

I will give you some tips on how to choose a name for your boat. I think it will help you to make your naming journey as a boat owner smoother.

1# Take Some Time

It’s not like you have to come up with a name as soon as you buy your boat. Take a few days for brainstorming. Be thoughtful and take care in your choice. There is a high chance that it will just come to you. So, be relaxed about it. It can feel like a tough decision, but in reality, you’re just naming a boat…don’t stress!

2# Try To keep it Short

A short name is always catchier than a long name. You won’t have to worry about if all the letters will fit onto your boat or not. It is even easier to relay via distress call.

3# Avoid Rude Or Offensive Words

Try to avoid all the offensive and rude words right from the beginning. You don’t want anyone to think that you have bad taste. If the name is offensive, think about the awkwardness when you will tell the name to someone else. So many times, boat owners have started with offensive boat names and it never goes well.

4# Use Your Creativity

Wordplay is always best when naming something and Pontoon boats are no exception. Wordplay can be clever and if you can relate it with something personal to you, then that will be the cherry on top. You’re a boat owner, for crying out loud. People are going to expect you to be clever and evoke a great feeling when they get on the water in your vessel.

5# Funny Names Are Always Good

Choosing a funny name for your boat might make a lot of people’s day. If your name can give someone a laugh, it might make their day. And I don’t have to tell you that laughter is the best medicine.

6# Significant Names

As a boat owner, you may want to think about naming the boat something pertaining to a significant person in your life. Some people even name their boat after a beloved pet or friend. Make a list of important people, places, and even pets in your life. See if any of them are good examples of boat names. When you’re ready to make a decision, the right boat name might jump out at you. If it happens to be someone or something you care deeply about, the pontoon boat names become that much more significant. it might elicit a special feeling that reminds you of better times. Throughout world history, many boat owners have used the names of their loved ones as boat names.

Should Pontoon Owners Name Their Boat?

In my opinion, you should and why not? I mean, all of our favorite things have names, right? The amount of money you spent after the boat, certainly needs a separate recognition. Naming the boat will also make it interesting to mention in a conversation rather than just calling it “My Boat”. The identity of your boat should be something special. While pontoon boats aren’t yachts or ocean liners, they still hold a special place in the hearts of boaters everywhere. Having a creative name for your boat can also evoke comments and get conversations going.

Plus, you are going to enjoy a lot of quality and fun time in that boat and get some wonderful memory along the way. Some might say that it’s not that important but I say it’s an important part of the journey. And don’t forget that part about the distress call. Your boat needs a name to get herself identified. If you haven’t yet chosen a boat name, you may consider getting some suggestions from friends.
